The Potter Club

ALTERNATIVE COMMUNITY-BASED SHORT BREAKS

operating from Greystones, Newtownmountkennedy and Arklow

Welcome to Potter Club

The Potter Club is an alternative respite support providing temporary support to children and their families. The goal of Potter Club support is to allow families a small break from their caregiving responsibilities while ensuring their child receives appropriate and individualised care within their local community.

The Potter Club provides alternative short break supports to children in the Dublin South-East/Wicklow Primary Care CHO6 Area, aged between 4 and 17, and with an intellectual disability in the moderate to profound range. Children availing of Potter club support will tend to have a lower profile of need. Potter Club operates primarily from three locations; Greystones, Newtownmountkennedy and Arklow, in Co. Wicklow.

Community-Based:

The Potter Club is delivered within the local community, utilising local resources, and facilities. In doing so, Potter Club helps create a sense of familiarity and comfort for children while promoting community inclusion. Potter Club operates primarily on Saturdays, and also runs a number of camps during school holidays.

Individualised Service:

Potter Club supports are individualised to meet a child’s specific needs and preferences. Potter Clubs creates a welcoming and safe environment for the children supported, where they can engage in activities meaningful to them, socialise and foster friendships, and feel supported.

Trained and Compassionate Staff:

Potter Club service is delivered by trained social care professionals with a passion for providing high quality care and understanding of the individual needs of the children we support and their families.

Person-Centred Care:

By focusing on the provision of individualised care, Potter Club ensures support meet the unique needs and individual preferences of each child. Potter Club’s goal is to improve the quality of life for the child and their family while also promoting their independence through participation in the community.

As a community based support, Potter Club strongly advocates and fosters community engagement and social inclusion. Through various activities and outings, we help children to build social connections and foster a sense of belonging within the broader community.

We share this responsibility with the individuals we support and their families so that all can thrive in the embrace of our community.
