Click here to visit our St Catherine's Helping Hands Appeal / Donations The Physiotherapy Department offers a service to babies, infants, children and young adults at various locations within St. Catherine’s Services. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, physiotherapists are involved in assessing the physical function and motor abilities of the individual. We can: help identify the causes of movement impairment and develop a planned programme aimed at maximizing movement potential; promote independence by assisting in maintaining or improving levels of physical function; provide consultation and advice to colleagues in the management of physical disability. This is achieved by using specialized techniques/equipment. In addition, we offer hydrotherapy, horse riding and orthotic assessment (specialized footwear/splints etc.). The physiotherapist may provide treatment on an individual basis or in a group setting, where appropriate. The involvement of parents/carers in the physiotherapy programme is essential for a successful outcome, particularly in the early years.
