Barnacoyle House

Barnacoyle House is open at weekends throughout the year to provide respite care for clients with autism. The clients arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday evening. Five clients and four staff would be the usual ratio during a weekend respite.

Barnacoyle House

Since the service started six years ago many of the original staff are still involved in the respite, which gives the clients and families consistency of care. The clients enjoy activities such as swimming, crafts, bowling, shopping, drives, walks, playground fun as well as using our ball pool, sensory room and therapy pool which are located in our main building in St. Catherine’s Services in Newcastle. On sunny days we also have a bouncy castle that the clients love.

We have our own people carrier to transport clients to and from outings. The bungalow has a spacious hallway, five bedrooms, sitting room, one bathroom, two en suites, kitchen and dining room, and has large enclosed gardens surrounded by fields. Within these gardens there is a trampoline, swings, slides and other playground equipment.
